Carlos Z.

I am now 40 years (OK with a little pause of 17 years) in the band MARTYR (a.k.a. The Dutch Metal Legends) and started this as a young teenager.

Didn't know anything about the business and 40 years further things still surprise me. Will things go wrong? Yes, they will.

I always keep telling myself with every release or whatever we do it will be absolutely awesome and great but there will be things that go wrong. So, I am anticipating upfront to that.

Putting it into perspective and counting to 10 before responding (or don't respond at all and focus on the good parts).

1 trick i use regarding socials and avoiding all the shit that is on there is I never respond to the stuff I don't like or disagree. I always click on the things I am interested in and let the algorithm offer me more of those fun or interesting stuff. It helps.

About Me

Carlos Zema, Brazilian singer, the oldest of 3 kids from an Italian-Brazilian family. Zema was born in Goiânia, in the central State of Brazil called Goiás, where the capital of Brazil, Brasília-DF, was built. Zema started his career in 1993, with a band called “Agazzy”. In 1994, Carlos moved on, changing a few members of that band that was when him and some friends formed “Nemesis”, which became after a few months, the band called “Heaven´s Guardian”. The band was voted the best band of 2004 in Brazil, following the fact, the band waS performing the biggest Festivals in Brazil as Headliners, some of them, for over 100,000 people. After “Heaven´s Guardian” was created, the band hit the road for a long journey. The band has played with big names along their career, groups such as: Megadeth, Metallica, Saxon, Shaman, Judas Priest, Amon Amarth, Angra, Blind Guardian, Sepultura, O Rappa, Dr. Sin, Sonata Arctica, Overkill, Raimundos, etc… Zema’s biggest project in the USA called “Outworld” (with Rusty Cooley, Bobby Williamson, Matt Smith, Shawn Kascak), released the album Weltschmerz – (Demo 2008), through the French Label: Replica Records and featured at the top of Metal charts in Europe for months. Carlos Zema also with “Outworld” has won the worldwide band contest FAMECAST, in 1st place that same year! During all this time, he had a few projects, playing alongside with bands such as Muse, Judas Priest, Halford, Bruce Dickinson, Sepultura, Stryper, Saxon, Skid Row, After Forever, LA Guns, Warrant, Anthrax, Suicidal Tendencies, Winger, Twisted Sister, and many others. Zema was also part of an American project, that came out as the Stevie Wonder tribute, alongside with his friend and fabulous guitar player/ producer: Vernon Neily. Since 2018, with Heaven’s Guardian, Zema recorded the first, authorial Rock Live Concert, with a full Philharmonic Orchestra and Philharmonic Choir in history of South America. Carlos Zema has also participated in the project called SoulSpell, this all-star project that has gained assistance from Roland Grapow (Helloween, Masterplan), Zak Stevens and Jon Oliva (Savatage), Blaze Bayley (Iron Maiden), Tim Ripper Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth), Edu Falaschi (Angra) and Nando Fernandes (Hangar). The second album, “The Labyrinth of Truths” was then released in 2010. Since then, Carlos Zema has been touring the world with his two bands

Immortal Guardian, In Russia: Also, in his most recent tour with Megadeth’s former guitar player Marty Friedman and with Heaven's Guardian and Philharmonic Orchestra. Immortal Guardian - Take a Mexican-American metal virtuoso that shreds guitar and keyboards AT THE SAME TIME, a stellar vocalist from Brazil that’s literally been brought back from death, add a bassist who doubles as a top of the line studio engineer, and round it out with a newly discovered drum talent from Montreal, Canada... That, in a nutshell, makes up the metal quartet which is IMMORTAL GUARDIAN. Known for their signature “Super Metal” sound that spans the metal gamut from progressive to power and tech-death to symphonic shred, it’s their LIVE show that's truly claimed their stake in the metal scene. Whether it be on tour with Marty Friedman, performing overseas in Brazil or Russia, or even events such as SXSW and the X Games riding around on their infamous moving stage dubbed the “Shred Sled”, one certain thing can be said about the band… THEY WILL MELT YOUR FACE.

Immortal Guardian and their eternal quest to “spread the shred” has landed the band on national and international tours including a headlining Brazilian tour and several dates in Russia. Immortal Guardian has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in metal such as Judas Priest, Dragonforce, Kamelot, Symphony X, Sonata Arctica, Slayer, Metal Church, Soilwork, Steve Vai and others. The band has also made a name for themselves as a DIY guerilla marketing machine via their Immortal Guardian Shred Sled, a mobile metal show on wheels, which has been covered by SPIN.com and other media outlets while out at major music festivals such as South By Southwest, Fun Fun Fun Fest, and River City Rockfest. They are gearing up for a busy 2020 and kicking it off with a 36 date North American tour as direct support for Powerglove with other runs soon to be announced.

IMMORTAL GUARDIAN’s discography consists of the original “Super Metal: Edition Z”. The band continued performing around Texas and even did a 2 week tour in Brazil in 2014 before the release of their 2nd EP, “Revolution Part I”. For Revolution Part I, legendary producer/engineer Roy Z was brought into the mix to give the tracks a unique sound that evoked the NWOBHM stylings heard in his high profile clients such as Judas Priest and Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson. “Roy completely molded the band's sound in the recordings...” states frontman Carlos Zema, “...It went from water to wine.” The record was well received and served as the prequel to the band’s 3rd CD, this time a full length album: “Age of Revolution”. Immortal Guardian’s “Age of Revolution” was released September of 2018 via M-Theory Audio, a label founded by previous Century Media President, Marco Barbieri. The band did a cross country tour with Exmortus in support of the new album as part of their “September Steel” Tour. And a second US national tour, with the legend: Marty Friedman, The Album received stellar reviews from metal blogs around the globe... As the band releases their second full length album with M-Theory, called: "Psychosomatic", the band has already beat the records of streams with their 2 first singles, "Read Between The Lines" and "Lockdown".
